Remedial Design
ENSR has the expertise and technical resources to design the most cost-efficient, remediation approaches using state-of-the art risk assessment and computer modeling.
At ENSR you are not locked into a particular technology. Our engineers understand the full range of remediation technologies including ENSR-proprietary innovative approaches and often combine technologies and services in synergistic effective total site solutions. In many cases, including the first successful bioremediation of a Superfund site, we have convinced regulators that our approaches are more cost effective and have produced better cleanup results at lower cost.

ENSR has designed successful remediation systems based on the following wide range of technologies:
|
Soil Washing |
Landfilling |
|
Solvent Extraction |
Asphalt Batching |
|
Dechlorination |
Recycling |
|
Stabilization/Solidification |
Bioremediation |
|
Incineration |
Soil Flushing |
|
Thermal Desorption |
Capping-in-Place |
|
In-situ Vitrification |

Site Remediation
ENSR has the knowledge and experience to undertake any size remediation project, at any level of involvement. Our services range from construction management and oversight through full turnkey execution of projects ranging up to tens of millions of dollars.
We have a proven track record of successful performance at all types of sites, including contaminated soils, sediments and groundwater, pits, ponds, lagoons, underground storage tanks, DNAPL sites, and low-level radioactive waste sites.
ENSR's integrated site remediation solutions minimize costs because they are site specific, technically defensible, and based on technologies that optimize the cost-effectiveness of the cleanup process. Our risk assessment experts, universally acknowledged to be among the very best in the country, help establish priorities, negotiate cleanup levels, and reduce risks as an integrated component of the remediation team.
Operation and Maintenance of Hazardous Waste Sites
ENSR has successfully evaluated/remediated over 5,000 hazardous waste sites, many of which required the installation and operation of an in-situ remediation system. ENSR has extensive experience in the design, installation and operation of these systems.
Some systems are operated by the owner owner, with ENSR providing support services such as system start-up, operator training, and system trouble-shooting. However, many of these systems have been operated by ENSR on a contract basis. In one case, ENSR took over the operation of a failing system from the owner, brought it back to performance specifications, and continued to operate the system for several years until achieving complete site closure.
Thanks to ENSR's fast-track field analytical services, our clients enjoy great cost savings on their remediation projects. For example, our field analyses during the excavation and removal of contaminated soil at a Superfund site reduced both the cost and the turnaround time of excavation by nearly 50%.
ENSR's Environmental Toxicology Laboratory can test soil, sediment, and water samples for toxicity to terrestrial, freshwater, and marine organisms. When remediation is driven by ecological concerns, simple toxicity tests are an effective means of establishing realistic site-specific clean up goals that can result in enormous savings for a wide range of companies.
